Wow, it's good to know you're getting so many good reviews. I loved your book a lot! I'm a fan of all things William Wallace or just Scottish in particular. It's nice to know there are still new books being written about him and that people are still bringing his legacy along. I have a blog about Scottish history if you want to take a look at it. ReplyDeleteCool! I always like to hear different people's versions of Wallace's story. They always seem to find something knew that I never thought of before. Have you read any of David R. Ross's books doing research? He was my main inspiration and he's more accurate then anyone I found.
ReplyDeleteA major source of inspiration for me has been Blind Harry’s "The Actes and Deidis of the Illustre and Vallyeant Campioun Schir William Wallace". I also thoroughly enjoy clicking around Wikapedia. There’s so much to find there, including references for further reading you might not find otherwise. But for me nothing beats being in Scotland, meeting local Scots, visiting historical sites and walking some of the same miles Wallace did so long ago.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to be able to go to Scotland, but for now I have to live it through the eyes of others. I've read parts of Blind Harry and it's really good, though I have as yet to get my hands on a copy of it. I really find it sad that there are people out there today who see Wallace as nothing more then a murderer. I just think it's important to uphold his right as a hero.

What an amazing book! I wish more people could write books like that.I have read many good books but this one is my favourite. I'd love it if you wrote a sequel. I started reading the book because I was doing a biography on William Wallace.
ReplyDeleteI’m really glad you liked it, and thanks for letting me know. The sequel is almost finished –down to the last chapter now! Alex travels across Scotland to track down his parents and encounters a lot of hardships and battles on the way (I can’t tell you more or I’ll give it away). Great to hear you wrote a biography on William Wallace. Try to really imagine what things were like for him. Life was pretty tough back then.
